Covid-19 ARK Response – Message from the CEO to all ARK Employees

You will be aware of recent UK and Scottish Government announcements with regards to how we all should be responding to the threat of Covid-19 and in particular the steps we should take to follow the policy of social distancing to minimise contact with other people.  This is very clear sensible advice and one we would ask you all to follow where possible. 

It also presents significant challenges to our community based care and housing services and through the leadership of both Care and Support and the Housing teams we have developed detailed risk assessments on the steps you should take if faced with identified risks.

Our risk management approach is as follows:

  • Coronavirus Social Distancing Assessment - was circulated to everyone yesterday offering guidance on how you should respond when faced with different scenarios, please make sure you have access to this and are aware of the content and we are continually monitoring Government advice and will update and issue the risk assessment as and when necessary.
  • Business Continuity Local Emergency Plans – have been developed by the leadership within Care & Support, offering detailed advice on the steps those working in C&S services should take when faced with specific disruption relating to the provision of care & support.  Please ensure you have access to this document and are aware of the content.  This will be updated as and when additional information becomes available.
  • Business Critical Activities – have been identified to ensure we deliver the key business activities over the coming weeks to ensure the organisation continues to operate as effectively as possible.  We understand that our efforts should be focused on ensuring that service users and tenants continue to receive the services they require and our employees are enabled to achieve this and we have developed detailed plans to ensure this continues to operate effectively.

 

As part of our response to the social distancing guidance, we have decided to close the Priory for a minimum of two weeks and all those based there will work from home.  It is necessary for Reception to remain open to ensure the mail system continues to operate and a colleague from HR will be present to ensure HR processes can continue to be delivered.  We are also advising all those that can, to work from home for the next two weeks and we will issue further guidance on this in due course.

 

I would ask all managers to ensure you have discussed with your team arrangements for keeping in contact; that you have agreed key business activities for colleagues to progress while at home and you set regular 121 or group calls to ensure the business can continue to operate effectively and colleagues don’t feel isolated.

 

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the continued commitment and flexibility you are demonstrating at this difficult time.  I will also make a special mention to our Care and Support colleagues, who will undoubtedly be faced with significant challenges over the coming weeks.  I want to offer my sincere thanks to you in anticipation of the challenges you will be faced with and having met many of you over the past year, I know you will feel a sense of unwavering duty to ensure the people you support are kept safe and well. 

 

We will issue a weekly update on the website for ease of access for everyone.

 

Finally, I hope all of the information we have provided you with enables you to keep yourself, your family and ARK’s tenants and service users safe.  These are unprecedented times and please be assured that your welfare will be our key focus over the coming weeks.
