Well, I have now been in my new job for only 4 months, long enough possibly to still think of it as a new job, but it feels like a lot more than 4 months and perhaps that’s a good thing. It has been a very busy period.
When I spoke to you last we had just held our staff conference and I talked about how I wanted to take the feedback from that event and share it with everyone in ARK, well we’ve done that.
All the Managers have received information that they can share with their teams, so that those who were not at the event are still able to get a sense of the discussion and still give their views on what they hear. I hope you take the opportunity to have good discussions in your teams and I look forward to hearing how they go.
We have been very busy thinking about the future of ARK. This work will form the basis of the discussions we want to have with everyone in ARK about the future.
We are currently planning how to do this and we will be arranging a series of events to be held across the country in late August, early September to talk to you about the emerging priorities and find out from you what you think is important.
I hope you take the opportunity to come along and more information will be available closer to the time.
We have just started an exciting piece of work at the Voices group on Friday 7th June, which is to have discussions across the country about what is important to each of us as individuals in our relationships in ARK.
This will lead to a review of ARK’s values and will bring more clarity for everyone on how we should be treated and treat others in our respective roles at ARK.
I am really looking forward to this, we had a great discussion at the Voices group and we will be rolling this out to all of the Speak Out Groups and all employees across the organisation.
It is a real opportunity for all of us to say what the standards of behaviour and relationships should be in ARK that will make us an organisation we can continue to be proud of.
I have spent most of my time in the Priory since taking up my post, which is not ideally what I wanted to do.
I want to be a very visible Chief Executive, where you get the opportunity to ask me the questions you would like answers to.
I will be planning a number of visits from the autumn as well as leading some of the communication and engagement events and I look forward to meeting lots more of you in due course.
In the meantime, I hope you can enjoy a nice summer and I look forward to seeing you in the autumn.
