Scotland’s Social Care Is at Breaking Point — It’s Time to Act

Date Posted: 18/08/2025

Ark proudly stands with the Coalition of Care and Support Providers in Scotland (CCPS) and the ALLIANCE in calling for urgent action from the First Minister.

Bobby Duffy, Ark CEO states that

“after 32 years in Adult Social Care, I’ve seen the life-changing impact of good support, and the devastating consequences when it’s undervalued. Support workers at Ark earn less than entry-level retail staff, yet they make decisions every day, that literally save lives. This crisis has been 20 years in the making. Year after year, social care organisations have been asked to do more with less. The result? Unsustainable funding, undervalued professionals, and vulnerable people pushed toward institutional care, a system we know causes lasting trauma. We’re tired of empty platitudes. Social care must be funded and respected on par with the NHS.”
